Kate Gregori, Chair of the ISW Board of Directors, has been working with non-profits for many years. She volunteers with several local charities and civic groups. She served as the Board President and Co-Founder of the Stillbrave Childhood Cancer Foundation. She currently resides in Winchester with her three children, one of whom is an ISW student.
Lenore Kornreich holds a BS from Stevenson University in Liberal Arts and Technology. She is an accomplished performer who specialized in drama, instrumental music, and dance prior to becoming a parent. She served as accompanist and director of an instrumental and choral ensemble at her church. Lenore lives with her husband, Dr. Bryan Kornreich, in Winchester. Two of her daughters are ISW alumnae.
Stephanie Standerfer, PhD, is Professor and Director of Music Education at Shenandoah University. A Denver native, she taught public school vocal and general music in grades K-12 for nine years in Colorado and Virginia. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Colorado in Boulder as well as Master of Education and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of Virginia’s School of Education specializing in the Social Foundations of Education. Current research areas include K-12 music curriculum development, teacher identity development, and neurologic processes of music literacy development. She is well-published in the field of music education and presents at national and international conferences annually.
Claire McDonald, PhD, Founding Head of School, ex officio, has been working with students, families and schools for more than 25 years. Before co-founding ISW in 2008, Claire ran Isaac Creek Consulting, an education company that worked with independent school students on writing skills and consulted with independent schools on college placement. She has also held leadership posts in independent schools for more than 20 years. She was Head of the Upper School at University Liggett School in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and Dean of Students at the Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore, Maryland. Claire has taught history and economics at the elementary, high school, community college, and university levels. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the College of William and Mary with a B.A. in political science and economics, and she earned an MA and a PhD in economics from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Claire and Bob McDonald have been married through most of their adult lives. Together they have three children–Ming ’18, Elizabeth ’20, and Liana ’23. As a stay-at-home mother, Claire served Families with Children from China Metro Detroit for four years, first as a board member and later as President. After moving home to Virginia in 2006, she co-founded and served as president of Families with Children from Asia Winchester for three years.
Corrine Taylor, PhD, Adviser to the ISW Board, earned a B.A. in economics from the College of William and Mary and a masters and doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 1998, she joined the faculty at Wellesley College, and for ten years she directed Wellesley’s Quantitative Reasoning Program. She also served as President of the National Numeracy Network for several years. Professor Taylor has led QR workshops, given invited lectures, and served as a consultant to college and universities that are developing new QR initiatives. She has also led professional development workshops for secondary school teachers who wish to employ a QR approach in their classrooms.
